Pre pregnancy care

Is your body ready for pregnancy? We will give you the right advice after evaluating your health. Based on the evaluation, we will suggest methods of taking good care of yourself before you become pregnant, for instance telling you which micronutrient supplements (iodine, folate) would be better for a healthy, suitable diet. Chronic diseases such as heightened blood pressure or diabetes, or genetic diseases, may complicate pregnancy.

We will recommend you tests and observations you should pass to try to avoid future complications. It is much simpler to think over a strategy of treatment before pregnancy.

Prenatal care

During pregnancy, regular checkups are very important. This consistent care can help keep you and your baby healthy, spot problems if they occur, and prevent problems during delivery.

  1. Fortunately, there is a wide range of prenatal testing methods we can use to prevent disorders during your pregnancy.
  2. Having a baby is one of life's most amazing experiences. Here at Drs. Martínez we are committed to helping you have a safe, healthy and rewarding pregnancy. Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, our team will be here to guide, educate and support you through every step.

Pregnancy scan

The ultrasound scan confirms if your baby is progressing as expected. It can also detect fetal malformations.

The first quarter ultrasound scan will control if the baby is correctly located within the uterus (intrauterine pregnancy), check the baby's heartbeat, assess the presence of single or multiple pregnancies and confirm your expected due date.

First trimester ultrasonic scans (week 12) may show 'soft' markers for chromosomal abnormalities, such as an increased fetal nuchal translucency to enable detection of Down's syndrome fetuses. Diagnostic tests, such as corial biopsy and amniocentesis, give a definite result.

Your 20-week ultrasound scan reveals whether there are any indications of a problem. One of the most common reasons for a third trimester ultrasound is to check that your baby is growing normally, measure the amniotic fluid, etc.

3D / 4D Pregnancy scan

3D ultrasound provides three dimensional images of the fetus. The 4D scan further adds the 4th dimension of time giving you a moving 3D image of the baby. Seeing your unborn child in Real-Time 4D ultrasound for the first time is sure to touch your heart...
The best time to have a 3D or 4D scan is when you are between 26 and 28 weeks pregnant.

Fetal monitoring

Fetal monitors are used to detect and trace the fetal heart rate and uterine contractions. Fetal monitoring is widely used and it is most frequently done between weeks 37 and 42. However, it should be done earlier in women at risk for preterm delivery.
